This showed up at just the right time for me. Recently retired, and found myself being extremely angry for 3+ months. I understood it was related to leaving the workforce but was unable to pinpoint the exact cause. I'll do some of your recommended reading and see if it opens new perspectives for me. Thanks!

That's great that you picked up upon the anger. I think a lot of people don't even get that far - being aware of it in the first place. Life is short, there should be no tolerance for not living it on your own terms. Happiness, engagement, fulfillment. Psychology is a wide space and honestly feels patchy for good theories. From recent experience I did find out going through each thing that important to me and then going back through recent fears and angers and overlaying them did it for me. The trick is "Things that are important to you" can be duplicated but with different names. So finding the root or the umbrella item that they fall under gives you a lot more clarity. E.g if it was "Seeing my buddies twice a week" and "Running the Fossil club every month". It could be that both of these fall under "Social Interaction" super type.
