About
In this article I cover:
🔴The end of the Information Age
🟢The start of the Creative age
🔴What not to do as a profession
🟢What to do as a profession
🚂The New Economic Engine
The human timeline brings us different pockets of prosperity.
The Commercial Revolution (15th - 18th centuries) →
increase in global trade, the rise of mercantilism, and the development of new financial institutions
The Industrial Revolution (18th - 19th centuries) →
steam power and the mechanization of production transformed manufacturing, transportation, and communication
The Information Age (1980s onwards) →
computers, the internet, and digital technologies revolutionized information processing, communication, and automation
The Creative Age (present) →
We are here, now. Information and data is abundant from the information age. AI (the steam engine) running on coal (data) and train tracks (infrastructure hardware).
The burden of effort has been lifted by AI, freeing us to do higher function activities - Creativity is where human effort lies. Value is recognized by humans individuals expression and their output

I made this up - but, it’s the current economic engine of the world.
Value is recognized by humans individuals expression and their output

Kids want to grow up to be a YouTuber or streamer. Huge money flows to creators. Value now lies in creativity.
🤖AI
AI is taking all information work jobs. I can see jobs evaporating in my industry. Starting with Junior level jobs, then intermediate level jobs, finally senior level jobs.
Professions affected are those that:
are information based
are task based
Examples
Legal - From what I can tell Legal is combining the current rules with the history of past rulings. Perfect for an AI system
Medical - Finding patterns in lab results. Perfect for an AI system
Banking - A system with clear rules and processes. Very easy for AI to step in.
Clerical - A bit more ad-hoc. It will take longer for AI to be proficient in disjoint systems and jumping between various software.
Architecture - Nvidia is using AI to build its hardware. Pathing, optimization are all done by AI. The same could be applied to buildings.
Accounting - Very similar to Legal. Current rules plus historical rulings to build an argument. Perfect for an AI system.
Financial - AI would be great at making long term investments and short term trades
I could go on.
🛡️Safe Space
I believe professions that are safe for the time being include:
Creative - Obviously
Decision makers - It will take some time until trust in decision making becomes a thing. If you have ridden with Tesla’s autopilot - you know statistically that it is safer at driving than you however not having your hands hovering near the wheel in certain scenarios is very difficult to do
Physical labor - This will come sooner than decision making. Companies are already racing to make humanoids for labor. It sounds totally crazy writing that to be honest - I think 10 years ago people would have 100% laughed at the idea. AI technology is moving extremely fast
Human Touch - Anything that needs compassion, a high end experience
⛏️During a gold rush, sell shovels
The main ways as an investor (which everyone should be if you value freedom) could potentially benefit from The Creative Age would be to sell the tooling for creativity.
Most tooling that gets used is private stock or owned by one of the Big Techs. S&P 500 already has adequate exposure to these big tech companies. I don’t see really many ways of making investment money from this economic change.
If you are a worker, I do see there being a huge impact on Information worker jobs and the transition to Creative workers.
With every economic age, they exponentially accelerate. Or said in another way, each economic age gets shorter and shorter. It would be surprising if the Creative Age was longer than the Information Age.

Yes. the world has changed and will continue to do so. I am glad I'm in the downhill portion of my timeline. I wonder what life will be like for my grandchildren. One has dreams of being in the veterinary field and another in law enforcement. How far away are we from Robocop ? This was a good piece full of food for thought. Thank you.
