Much like a business, I think it is important to have a series of accompanying documents that back you up in decision making.
I have a series of documents that I maintain that help me through life. All of which I will cover in due course.
The main, most important document is a vision of the destination you are heading towards. This I will call the Manifesto.
Within this manifesto, we will have two sections, the Why and the What.
Let me share with you my manifesto (below). It might provide some insights into my motivations, what drives me and what I love. The why covers the highest, rolled up distillation of why you are doing something.
The why is important as when you falter from motivation and you have no habits in place,
you will need to go back to your Why to rekindle your purpose and drive.
The what is important as it clearly lists what you intend on doing. It is a clear destination that you can route plan to.
The what is also important as it is a manifestation of your wants. Neville Goddard who I am studying, conveys the importance of the past tense of wants as they are in the context of
a wish fulfilled
The idea of metaphysics is a bit “out there”, but truthfully, sports professionals, high performers, use positive visualization as a technique for positive outcomes.
We will use this Manifesto as a roadmap when we slow down, get lost, get distracted, lose motivation. This will be our guiding star in getting to where we want to be.
Create this manifesto on a cloud drive, save it forever. Modify it when you see clarity and when your character changes. We are mutable and we change.
I have all of my guiding documents in one file. I scroll through it every day to remind myself.
Let’s investigate my manifesto.
Past tense. Ideal state - lets go.
Why
I have financial freedom and personal independence for me and my children.
What
My passion is the game of making money, however it is made
I always pay for holidays every 6 months for me and my family - even as the children are adults with their families
Real Estate - I have:
A Cabin in the woods, hand built by me and my children
A Condo in the mountains
A House on a Lake
A House in Florida or California
A House in England
Houses for my two children
I spend a substantial amount of time in the mountains and forests every week
I have a Net Worth of over $15M USD (indexed to 2024)
I am influential upon the governance and management of wilderness spots and the recreational activities in these zones that I frequent
I am very fit, healthy and exercise every day of the week
Yes, I know money isn’t everything. However I find myself, personally to get miserable if I don’t have tangible, real world goals to work towards.
Do you have any thoughts, feedback, questions about my Manifesto? Feel free to ask in the comments!
I hope this helps you!
The problem here is that the word “Manifesto” has a negative connotation. I agree though, it does help to have a guiding document or documents.
I just completed a piece outlining my own and will publish at Risk & Progress soon.
