Standing next to my son, it is past 10PM.
He is sitting there with Gemini and working somewhere between absolute lethargy and furiously. Large sheets of A3 paper, pencil and semi legible writing.
Talking to him, I’m vaguely aware of a feeling distracting me from conversation - I know I have failed on an aspect that I had earmarked somewhere in life.
Within a fraction of a second my eye glancing around his room setup notices him having to work on physical things. A4 Paper. Pencils. In reality I write things down perhaps a dozen times per year. Why, when I’ve seen him doing homework is he having to do it on Paper?
I just say “use AI to do it for you” - he says - “We aren’t allowed to use AI”.
At this point in time I feel like I have failed him. I feel that this failure was me being wealthier than I am at this point in time. That wealth allows me to break the chains for him and for my daughter. They would be free of this Slavery System. If we were very wealthy, we’d be in the Mediteranian or the Florida Keys traveling as a family and I’d be Home Schooling the Kids. Perhaps we’d have a part-time tutor for some variety of education. Maybe South America for Spanish Immersion and travel life experience.
When I see my children doing archaic, pointless tasks - just ‘cause. It makes my blood boil.
It’s not so much a rant against the education system, just more of the fact that the Slavery System that the Education System is a foundation for - encompasses all aspects of life from birth to death and the edge of its veil is delibrately hard to see.
I ask him what they are teaching him. It is the same pointless crap they spent close to 18 years of my life teaching me. Native Indian Belts. Longshore Drift. Dates from History that you will forget next week.
Worthless. Deliberate.
The rational mind wonders - why are they still teaching this pointless stuff? How in 2026 are they still doing the same stuff as a 100 years ago?
Why is he working on this thing at 10pm - clearly that will move him no further forward in any meaningful knowledge or experience.
If I use AI all day long - why isn’t he working with the same tooling as what he will be using in reality? If learning is the goal, why are they not learning with AI? Duolingo for example - AI driven education for learning languages. It’s amazing!
To me it is all forced condititioning of a human to be an obedient, unquestioning worker. Unquestioning repetition and compliance is the recipe.
If it was about the outcome, they would be using AI. But it’s not.
I get the impression that the first 18 years of life aren’t learning meaningful things that will help you succeed. They are rote and repetetive. In indoctranation into compliance.
School is a Daycare that can brainwash the children while the productive adults can get out and produce value. Your 18 years of experience is biased towards compliance, memorization and without critical thinking. Collectivism and inclusion, spoon fed on a daily basis.
It’s not something I was anticipating - the want to free my children from this, so I don’t beat myself up on this thought. It takes time to make wealth to be able to free yourself from the Slavery System, but my deep intent is to have it set up and in place for when my Grand Children arrive.
I find myself having unteach things they have been told in school. Which then leads me to seeing that they are being told two contradictoary things which can be hard for a young child. Carefully treading the line between Dad sounding like a crazy old man who is against everything and protecting them is a really tricky thing. I can really appreciate their apprehension of saying something that is mainstream in fear of my anti establishment retort.
Hopefully a childhood of being shown two sides to a story will keep them having to evaluate, critically, themselves. And that becomes engrained.
