Recently where I live, the local area decided to re-introduce Fluoride back to the water supply. It had previously been out of the water supply for around 15 years.
Since I’ve been on a bit of a mission for protecting my family’s health, this news article stood out. I had previously noticed articles mentioning the lowering of IQs with Fluoride and statements such as “Calcification of Pineal Gland”.
My current opinion is generally that “Government” doesn’t do things out of the kindness of its heart for people. It generally feels that it wants to take as much from me as it can.
Regardless as to the whether the truth of whether Fluoride will lower my family’s IQ - a lot of decisions in life can be made around the logic of:
What is the downside of doing this action
What is the upside of doing this action
Would there be any downside of my family having more pure water?
Just Cost
Would there be any upside of my family having more pure water?
Possibly better IQ, possibly better health.
Either way - $350 dollars for a lifelong system that will support all their water needs for the rest of their life sounds like a pretty good deal. I’m also one that loves control and independence. If there is something I can take some control over such as quality of water - I’m fine with that.
Filtration
Outside of Fluoride the water filtration that I bought reduces the following:
Arsenic
Barium
Cadmium
Copper
Fluoride
Hexavalent Chromium
Trivalent Chromium
Lead
Radium 226/228
Selenium
TDS
Turbidity
There is already an issue in the area I live with Radon gas, so reducing Radium which can lead to Radon doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Here is a past Post regarding reducing Radon from your home
System
I opted for the APEC RO (Reverse Osmosis) 90 system coming in pretty reasonably at ~$350 CAD. I installed the system myself and it was very easy. It felt quite modular and Lego-like to install. All of it fits neatly under your sink.
Continued Health Drive
Here is my current todo list for health improvements:
Aluminum free DeodorantNatural Soaps for the familyHealthier dishwasher and dish soaps - its quite crazy that were using pure chemicals on the things we eat and drink from
Sourcing meat & vegetables from local farmers
Air Filtration system
My cat is days away from passing away. She is 21 years old, which in cat years is about 110 years.
While it's hard seeing her slowly pass, having cared for her the past 19 years, it has given me clarity about what really matters in life.
To live a good, long life all you need is good food, clean water, the love of a good family, good sleep, and a calm, peaceful place to spend your days.
Everything else you have after that is a luxury to be grateful for.
