Prices are going up
I’ve been advising my retired in-laws, that they should travel as much as they can now.
The close future looks to be exceedingly-to-prohititively expensive to travel.
If travel is important to you, I suggest you think and plan accordingly to get your travel booked ahead of time.
Energy Production Being Sabotaged
Sleeper cells are a well known military tactic to embed fighting men in countries and leave them dormant until required.
There has been a very high occurance of energy producton being blown up in the last month. If it is oil production or storage being taken offline, that means that demand gets channeled back into the global market, causing higher prices and less supply.
Cumulatively this might account for somewhere between 1.7 million barrels per day or 1.5% - 2% of global refining capacity taken offline in the last 30 days.
Global oil supply plummeted by 10 million barrels per day in March alone and global observed oil inventories fell by ~85 million barrels. Link
Oil For War
Travel is secondary to war from a resource prioritization for a government. EU, USA, Russia, Iran and right away China all have full say in what fuel is used for what purpose internally. They also have very large money printers that can all outbid you and your peasantbucks for oil. The European Union is repositioning itself so they can be engaged with a hot war with Russia.
If it is a toss up between a government buying oil for war and you wanting to go on a Mexican retreat - you lose.
Stagflation
During the fall of fiat based economies, they try to print their way out of trouble. Which obviously never works.
All countries are in the same predicament and all of them will print.
All the extra money causes the cost of living to go up. Having to pay more to live, means less for travel.
3 Letter Acronyms
There are plenty of 3 letter acronym organizations espousing the future beyond 2030 being far less travel.
The elites who are close to the money printing sources, have no such impact - their money increases with the money printing. For the serfs, not so much.
Climate Action embedded in many of the 3 Letter Organizations is the Tenet to which a lot of policy is derrived. The World Economic Forum has a vision where a Carbon Usage is attached to your personal name. This likely would be through some digital Id where you would have a maximum quota.
Fuel Futures
Airline Operators have to gamble based on future fuel prices when buying. There is risk to the traveller in paying a large amount in the future should fuel prices spike. Also there is risk of Aircrafts not flying if the airline miscalculated fuel prices. Which would mean less supply of flights and higher costs.
All of which, operators can point their fingers at war as the culprit.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I would recommend travelling now while you still can. Be cognizant of future flight costs spiking as well as a steady trajectory of prices going up.
